What kinds of techniques can I implement to reduce acne without having to rely heavily on acne medicine?

I was just wondering if there were any ';tricks of the trade'; out there that could be of use for me. I already know about the importance of drinking lots of water. Thanks!

Also, a rough time frame of when I would start to see effects would be appreciated, if possible. I understand that a lot of this is on a per-person basis and might not apply specifically to me.What kinds of techniques can I implement to reduce acne without having to rely heavily on acne medicine?
Good evening there!

I'd suggest Neutrogena products, it does not damage your skin, it leaves it smooth after washing your face with warm water and then rinsing it with cold. Also continue to drink lot of water, it helps hydrate your skin to leave it nice and smooth.

You could crush up aspirin and make a paste of it with water and let it sit on your face for a few minutes.....but I don't know if you qualify that as acne medication.....Aspirin is made of salicylic acid, the main ingredient of most acne medicines. Should see improvements in a week or so...

Witch hazel is a really good astringent.

Other than that drink water, as you said, and a diet low in fat, don't touch your face, and if you are female, no oils in your makeup.
I've never had a problem with acne but I've heard that if you get some sun it keeps it from breaking out so bad and might even reduce the current acne. (second hand info, best I could do)
